The HIV-1 Tat sequence allows the peptide to easily cross cell membranes and enter the cytoplasm.

GAPR-1 Binding

Once inside, it binds to GAPR-1 (GLIPR2), a negative regulator of autophagy located on the Golgi apparatus.
