In a Phase 2 trial, patients receiving 160 mg of zovaglutide once monthly experienced a 13.8% reduction in body weight at 24 weeks.
A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study involving 303 overweight or obese subjects. The efficacy was highly comparable to reductions observed in patients receiving 80 mg every other week (12.5%).
Zovaglutide demonstrated a favorable safety and tolerability profile, with gastrointestinal adverse events similar to marketed GLP-1 RA products.
Phase 2 trial data showed that most adverse events were mild or moderate, primarily occurring during the dose escalation period, and decreased once the target dose was reached.
